The enterprise journey of SHG members is generally gradual and non-linear. Members may enter, exit or move between stages depending on business performance, seasonal income patterns, household responsibilities, market conditions and access to finance. A typical progression begins with collective savings and small internal loans, followed by group-based bank credit for livelihood activities, and subsequently moves towards individual or collective enterprise financing.
