Conclave for Compliance officers Lucknow: Sa-Dhan conducted a Conclave for Compliance Officers in Lucknow on 18th December 2024. The conclave was attended by representatives from apex regulatory bodies like the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and NABARD, as well as eminent figures from the Microfinance sector. The Regional Director of the RBI, Lucknow, the CGM of NABARD, and the VP of NBSC graced the inaugural session. The RD, RBI, in his address, emphasised the SRO’s role. He also recognised that the absence of compliance resulted from bottlenecks in the microfinance sector. The conclave also deliberated on (i) Promoting Compliance Culture in Microfinance and the Role of Compliance Testing in Improving Compliance Standards and (ii) Best Practices and Challenges in Compliance with the RBI Regulatory Framework in Microfinance. Moreover, a brief presentation on the current compliance landscape was given, where the presenter discussed various compliance issues and their challenges in detail, emphasising the long-term costs of non-compliance. The conclave concluded with an insightful understanding and discussion of challenges, necessities, and possible ways forward regarding compliance in the microfinance sector.
Sa-Dhan HR Conference: Sa-Dhan had organised a Microfinance HR Conference in Chennai. This conference is the first of its kind in the sector and was attended by HR Leaders, MDs, CEOs, and Operation Heads of MFIs, SFBs, and NBFCs from across the Country. The event saw over 130 participants. The conference was an excellent platform for HR leaders to network, interact, and deliberate on contemporary HR-related topics like talent management, capacity building, organisational culture, employee benefits, HR technology, etc. The event had brilliant speakers who received excellent support from the sponsors and partners. The gathering fostered a collaborative environment where industry pioneers exchanged valuable perspectives, contributing to the continued growth and sustainability of Microfinance and Impact Finance Institutions.
The Compliance Officers Conclave: As part of Sa-Dha’s role to build capacities of our member institutions, Sa-Dhan, as an SRO, has regularly conducted Conferences, Conclave, Training Programmes, Workshops, Webinars, etc, on relevant topics at a national and regional level. In this regard, Sa-Dhan, in association with the Association of Karnataka Microfinance Institutions (AKMI), State level Association had organised a Conclave for Compliance Officers in Bengaluru to provide a platform for the Compliance Officers and Company Secretaries to interact, deliberate and discuss the recent developments in regulatory compliance.
Karnataka State Financial Inclusion Conclave: At the inaugural session of the Conclave, esteemed delegates were addressed by Mr. Jiji Mammen, CEO of Sa-Dhan, KVSSLV Prasada Rao, CGM of NABARD, M. Bhaskara Chakravarthy, GM and convenor of SLBC, and Mr. S.S. Radha Ramana, GM of SIDBI.
The gathering was also addressed by the pioneer and veteran of the Microfinance sector, Mr. Aloysius Fernandez.
Two-panel discussions took place, during which industry leaders deliberated on Financial Inclusion Vision 2030 and Financial Health of Low-Income Households in Karnataka. SIDBI presented on MSME Formalization, and Equifax presented on the sector’s status in Karnataka.Around 70 delegates participated in the event, which included MDs, CEOs, and senior officials of MFIs, SFBs, and technical support agencies. AKMI was the Conclave partner.
Conclave on Product Innovations in Chennai: In collaboration with SIDBI, Sa-Dhan organized a Conclave on Product Innovations in Chennai. Over 70 delegates from MFIs, SFBs, and others attended the event, which deliberated on various topics, such as trends in product development in microfinance, innovations in group and retail lending, and best practices and challenges.
Mr Radha Ramana, GM of SIDBI, also presented on the Formalization of MSMEs at the Conclave.
Uttar Pradesh & Karnataka State Financial Inclusion Conclave: The State level financial Inclusion Conclaves were supported by NABARD was organized by Sa-Dhan in Lucknow and Karnataka. The conclave was attended by Senior Government Officials, Regulators, Bankers, MFIs and other agencies who are involved with financial Inclusion activities in the State. They included to RD RBI, CGM, NABARD and SLBC Convenor. The conclaves deliberated on the present status and future road map of Financial Inclusion in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
