Sa-Dhan's Mission Statement
Sa-Dhan's mission is to build the field of Community Development Finance Institutions, help members and associate
institutions in rendering better services to low income households, particularly women both in rural and urban
India, in their quest for establishing a stable livelihood from improving their qualities of life."
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
i)
To provide a forum for organisations and individuals engaged in the field of community development finance to
share and exchange experiences, expertise and resources.
ii)
Serve as a catalyst for building MicroFinance institutions
iii)
Strengthen the capacities of community development finance institutions through research, consultancy and training
in different aspects
iv)
Disseminate information about sound financial practices from both national and international experience
v)
Act as self regulating organizations for community development finance institutions and seek recognition from relevant
regulatory authorities
vi)
Establish linkages between members and resource institutions such as funding agencies, training and consultancy
and research institutions
vii)
Establish minimum standard of performance, both developmental and financial aspects which members have to adhere
viii)
Work with other networking bodies and coalition of community development finance institutions
ix)
To represent its members in governmental agencies such as RBI and other regulatory and policy making bodies
so as to promote community development finance and help create a favourable policy environment, both at the
national and international level. (Memorandum of Association, Sa-Dhan, 2004)
Membership Categories:
The two types of membership in Sa-Dhan are:
I) Primary members and
II) Associate members (both organizations and individual members). They may be of the following types of organisations:
Category A: Capacity Building Organisations (CBOs) which not only promote self-help groups and provide capacity
building inputs, but also those which supports and provides technical services to NGO-MFIs.
Category B: Organisations not purely structured as financial intermediaries, but either provide micro-credit to
groups/individuals or, provide bulk credit to MFIs for micro-credit.
Category C: Organisations purely structured as financial institutions such as SEWA Bank, HDFC, Bhartiya Samruddhi
Finance Ltd. (BASIX), SHARE Microfin Ltd. etc.
Category D: Formal or Informal Networks/Channels for which supports build capacity of stakeholders.
