The Schwab Foundation has chosen Vijay Mahajan as one of the world's outstanding social
entrepreneurs. Earlier, the award has been received by APAEB, Brazil; BRAC Bangladesh; PDA, Thailand;
and SEWA, Gujarat for outstanding contribution in the field of microFinance. The selected entrepreneurs
are entitled to participate at the Annual meeting of the World Economic Forum.
Among the 600 distinguished guests of the Grameen Foundation USA from around the world, at the
Lincoln Center in New York City, SHARE was one of the sixth honoured by GF-USA for Excellence
and Pioneer Award for the contribution towards poverty alleviation through microFinance.  Other
institution and personalities who had received the award included CARD, Funding for the Poor
Cooperative, Kyrgyzaultrust, Kashf Foundation, Pro Mujer, and Nanzhao, a Chinese micro-credit
replicator.
